This is a USB-C hub rather than a Thunderbolt dock, so be aware that the hub will take up one of the Mac. Handbrake and Audio Encoding so far has been about a wash. But the alternative to 2 x USB 3.0 Type A ports + 1 x USB 2.0 Type A port would most likely be offering only 2 x USB 3.0 Type A ports and no third USB-A port of any speed. So I bought a NVME drive, and it it shits the bed constantly. Also has drive space inside for an NVME or SSD drive. The new M1-equipped MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini are each equipped with two USB-C ports that support USB 4 and Thunderbolt, but as it turns out, Apple is continuing to use. I bought a Mac Mini USB-C Hub that adds a single USB-C (wash), SD Card, and 3 USB A ports. Paired it with a new 34 inch ultra wide monitor by MSI, and still cheaper than a 27 inch Intel iMac, so I suppose it's a win. I figured that was better than the Studio, since RAM and SSD on a Max'd out mini was still cheaper than low end Studio. So after this, I bought a Max'd out Mini.
